Paillard Bolex Prismatic Focuser (Critical Gate Focuser) For The H16 Movie Camera
The Prismatic Focuser, also named the Critical Gate Focuser or simply the Gate Focusing Attachment. All three names however refer to the same device which consists of a prism and a magnifying lens.
The prismatic focuser is inserted into the film gate, and allows focusing at the film plane through the taking lens.
After opening the film chamber door it is inserted into the gate of the camera in place of the film pressure pad which is removed.
Only useful on older H16 or H8 Non-reflex cameras and for cinematography, labwork, titling or animation where there will be no disturbance after the focus is set. Obviously a tripod, at least, needs to be used.
