Paillard Bolex Prismatic Focuser (Critical Gate Focuser) For H16 Movie Camera
The Prismatic Focuser, also named the Critical Gate Focuser or simply the Gate Focusing Attachment. All three names however refer to the same device which consists of a prism and a magnifying lens.
The prismatic focuser was inserted into the film gate, and allowed focusing at the film plane through the taking lens.
After opening the film chamber door it is inserted into the gate of the camera in place of the film pressure pad which is removed.
This later version “CADIL” has a metal eye piece.
Only useful on older H16 or H8 Non-reflex cameras and for cinematography, labwork, titling or animation where there will be no disturbance after the focus is set. Obviously a tripod, at least, needs to be used.
Good condition for it’s age (1940s). Some tarnishing to metal parts and marks from use.
Complete in original box.
